Egypt Equity Markets | 11 Oct 2015 : Egyptian Equity Markets continue on up trend, EGX30 gains 55.99 bps, market cap adds EGP 5.2 Mill….
Cairo, Egypt, Capital Markets in Africa — Egyptian Exchange Equity Markets today continued their up trend as indices and sectors all saw increases and stocks continued to rebound from losses in the weeks first session. The equity market capitalization ended at EGP 454,110 adding EGP 1,590 million to the EGP 452,520 billion recorded at the end of the previous weeks trading session .
The benchmark index EGX30 gained by 55.99 points or 0.75 percent to end 7547.66 points from the 7491.67 points recorded previously. Likewise, the equal-weighted index EGX50 gained by 14.31 points or 1.15 percent to close on 1255.68 points.
The EGX70 index, which measures small and mid-cap index, increased by 0.63 percent or 2.5 points to settle at 400.99 points similarly the broader index EGX100 surged by 0.44 percent or 3.75 points to close on 856.17 points while the EGX20 capped index gained by 1.17 percent or 82.99 points to close at 7181.91 points.
From a market activity standpoint, today’s turnover settled at EGP 495.831 million exchanged in 267 million traded securities in 21,705 deals. Egyptian and foreign investors stepped in as net sellers with EGP 47.4 million and EGP 12.1 million respectively while Arabs came out as net buyers with EGP 43.4 million.
With regards to the 162 listed stocks traded today, there were 90 price gainers and 35 price losers and 37 remaining unchanged bringing the market breadth to end positive. Amongst the gainers were Belton Financial Holding which gained by 8.53 percent to close the trading sessions at EGP 3.69, Al Arafa For Investment And Consultancies which gained by 5.88 percent to close the trading sessions at EGP 0.18 and Rubex International for Plastic and Acrylic Manufacturing leapt by 5.54 percent to end at EGP 8, Naeem Holding rose by 5.26 percent with closing price of EGP 0.40. Golden Coast Company) jumped by 5.17 percent to conclude at EGP 11.80.
On the other hand, Rights Issue Of Cairo Oils & Soap Company-1 lost by 9.66 percent to end at EGP 1.31, Saudi Egyptian Investment & Finance plunged by 6.57 percent to trade at EGP 60.02 and Alexandria New Medical Center slumped by 6.47 percent with closing price of EGP 23.40. Likewise, EL Ezz Aldekhela Steel – Alexandria went down by 5.95 percent to trade at EGP 358.53 and Sinai Cement slumped by 5.58 percent to end at EGP 27.08.
In terms of the sectors, Banks sector index grew by 0.32 percent to close at 3,629.09 points. Healthcare & Pharmaceutical increased by 0.01 percent to close at 2,596.38 points, Chemicals decreased by 0.05 percent to close at 673.97 points. Basic Resources sector index rose by 0.95 percent to close at 404.46 points, Travel & Leisure sector index gained by 0.97 percent to close on 187.04 points and Food & Beverages increased by 0.79 percent to settle at 1229.29 points.
In similar vein, Construction & Materials was up by 0.04 percent to close on 1,414.52 points and Industrial Goods & Services increased by 0.26 percent to 1017.77 points.
Real Estate surged by 0.43 percent to close on 1,142.55 points. Telecommunications went up by 1.36 percent to close 298.28 points and Financial Services excluding Banks up by 2.17 percent to close on 389.6 points. Finally, Personal & Household sector index also increased by 1.52 percent to close on 873.27 points.
